BUFFALO, N.Y. – A shocking revelation from the United States Attorney’s Office in New York reveals that Miguel Angel Guevara-Murillo, a 34-year-old man from Stockton, California, has been charged with possession of a document-making implement, carrying a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles M. Kruly, Guevara-Murillo was nabbed at the Rainbow Bridge Port of Entry on June 28, 2025, after making an incorrect turn into the United States. Along with a passenger, he presented Colombian passports to Customs and Border Protection Officer. The vehicle was subjected to a secondary inspection, where Guevara-Murillo’s immigration status as an uninspected entrant from Columbia in 2022 came to light. He received notice to appear and was released on parole.
During the search of the vehicle, authorities discovered a counterfeit California driver’s license with Guevara-Murillo’s photo but under the name Sean Patrick Allen, along with items indicating his involvement in counterfeiting. A red DoorDash tote found inside contained a laptop, an access card printer, blank plastic cards, a scanner, and other tools for document production.
The investigation led by Homeland Security Investigations and Customs and Border Protection uncovered Guevara-Murillo’s alleged scheme to produce counterfeit state identification documents, selling them to individuals seeking jobs as DoorDash drivers for $250 each.
U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo emphasized that the charges against Guevara-Murillo are merely accusations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the lengths some will go to deceive and profit from the desperation of others seeking employment in the gig economy.
