Damien R. Johnson, a 47-year-old felon from Pensacola, Florida, pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. The incident occurred in February 2026, when Johnson fled from a residence during the execution of a search warrant by the Pensacola Police Department. Johnson attempted to evade capture but was quickly apprehended by officers, discarding a firearm during the pursuit. The reason behind Johnson’s guilty plea is rooted in his previous conviction in 2001 for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 100 kilograms of marijuana.
Johnson’s guilty plea is a result of the excellent work of the Pensacola Police Department and federal law enforcement partners, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at repelling the invasion of illegal activities.
Johnson faces up to 15 years’ imprisonment and a three-year term of supervised release. If he violates any conditions of his release, he could face an additional period of incarceration. Sentencing is scheduled for October 14, 2026, at the United States Courthouse in Pensacola before United States District Judge T. Kent Wetherell II.
