⏱ 2 min read

Yaroslav Vishnevski, a 33-year-old former Harrisburg, Illinois resident, was convicted of manufacturing and possessing unregistered short-barreled rifles, silencers, and a shotgun with an obliterated serial number. The conviction came after a two-day trial and roughly 30 minutes of jury deliberation on June 9, 2026. Vishnevski’s troubles began in May 2024 when US Customs intercepted a package from China containing unregistered silencers addressed to his residence.

The Illinois State Police obtained a search warrant for Vishnevski’s residence, where they discovered equipment and tools designed to manufacture weapons and silencers. Agents found a computer-controlled desktop milling machine, called a “Ghost Gunner 3”, and multiple 3D printers containing software used to produce 3D printed silencers. The search also turned up five silencers, a sawed-off shotgun with an obliterated serial number, and three short-barreled rifles, including two AR-style firearms.

US Attorney Steven D. Weinhoeft stated that the Department of Justice is committed to defending the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans while also recognizing the dangers posed by illegally imported and unregistered firearms. Weinhoeft emphasized that the DOJ will continue to aggressively enforce criminal laws passed by Congress to prevent the proliferation of untraceable and deadly weapons.
