Alfred Henderson, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Mississippi 2019

BROOKHAVEN, MS – A 28-year-old Brookhaven man has been sentenced to 5 years in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

Alfred Henderson, 28, was sentenced to 60 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for the crime. He was also ordered to pay a $1,500 fine.

The conviction stems from a 2017 incident in which a confidential informant purchased a .44 Caliber rifle from Henderson, a previously convicted felon on parole.

Henderson’s lengthy criminal record includes convictions for sale of controlled substances, burglary of a dwelling, and conspiracy to commit burglary in Lincoln County.

According to investigators, Henderson was indicted on July 25, 2018, for being a felon in possession of a firearm. He pled guilty before Senior U.S. District Judge David C. Bramlette III on January 9, 2019.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Candace Gregory Mayberry.

Henderson’s sentence serves as a reminder of the severe consequences faced by individuals who illegally possess firearms as convicted felons.

U.S. Attorney Mike Hurst and Special Agent in Charge Dana Nichols with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives commended the efforts of investigators and prosecutors in bringing Henderson to justice.
