Terry Markey Miller, a 44-year-old Davenport man, was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for possessing a firearm and ammunition as a felon. The crime occurred at his Davenport residence in January 2025, just 10 days after he was released from prison. Miller was prohibited from possessing firearms due to his prior felony conviction. He was on federal supervised release at the time of his arrest.
According to court documents, Miller’s sentence was the result of a search of his residence, which uncovered the firearm and ammunition. This was not Miller’s first run-in with the law; in 2010, he was sentenced to 30 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute cocaine base. His sentence was later commuted, and he was released from prison in January 2025.
The investigation was conducted by the Davenport Police Department, and the case was announced by United States Attorney David C. Waterman of the Southern District of Iowa. The sentence includes an additional 18 months for revocation of his supervised release. After completing his term of imprisonment, Miller will be required to serve a three-year term of supervised release.
The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a nationwide initiative that brings together federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement to combat violent crime and make communities safe. The initiative is tailored to address specific violent crime and public safety challenges in each community.
