A Rapid City man’s multi-state fentanyl and methamphetamine ring came crashing down in May 2025 when cops seized over 3,300 counterfeit pills and 96 grams of fentanyl powder in a traffic stop.
Ezra Bald Eagle, 27, cultivated a network in the Rapid City area to peddle the deadly substances between December 2024 and May 2025. He’d travel to Colorado to buy large quantities of meth and fentanyl, then transport them back to South Dakota where his crew sold them within the city limits.
That all ended on May 20, 2025, when Unified Narcotics Enforcement Team cops pulled over Bald Eagle as he returned from a Colorado run. Instead of a scenic drive, he got a one-way ticket to 10 years in the slammer.
Bald Eagle pleaded guilty in December 2025 and was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
