Martin, also known as “Money”, pleaded guilty to one charge of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl within 1,000 feet of a protected location. The incident occurred at a hotel in the Elm Grove section of Wheeling, where Martin was staying. The hotel is located near Overbrook Playground, a popular spot for children.

According to court statements, Martin was under investigation for drug trafficking when officers observed him exiting a vehicle and entering his hotel room. A lawful search of the vehicle turned up a shopping bag containing nearly 72 grams of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia. The seizure led to Martin’s arrest and subsequent guilty plea.

Martin faces a mandatory minimum of 5 years and up to 80 years in federal prison. His sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. The case was investigated by the Ohio Valley Drug Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The conviction is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations. Fentanyl, a highly lethal substance, has been designated as a weapon of mass destruction due to its extreme danger to public safety.
