Fentanyl Dealer Gets 2 Years in Enfield Death

BRIDGEPORT, CT – CHRISTOPHER FELICIANO, 29, of Enfield, will spend the next two years in federal prison after being sentenced today for his role in supplying the heroin and fentanyl that killed a 24-year-old man in 2017. U.S. District Judge Stefan R. Underhill handed down the 24-month sentence, followed by three years of supervised release, in Bridgeport federal court.

The case is part of a larger, statewide crackdown on narcotics dealers peddling deadly opioids. Federal and local authorities are increasingly focusing on holding those responsible for distributing the substances that fuel the ongoing overdose crisis accountable for their actions, not just those who use them.

On October 8, 2017, Enfield Police responded to a call at a local residence to find a 24-year-old man unresponsive. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. A subsequent search revealed drug paraphernalia. Crucially, investigators seized the victim’s phone, unlocking a digital trail that led directly to Feliciano.

Analysis of the victim’s Facebook messages and phone records revealed a consistent pattern of purchases from Feliciano dating back to February 2017. The evidence showed the victim had contacted Feliciano to order heroin and fentanyl just hours before his death. This wasn’t a one-time transaction; it was a sustained pattern of dealing that culminated in tragedy.

Feliciano pleaded guilty on February 19, 2019, to one count of possession with intent to distribute, and distribution, of heroin and fentanyl. The investigation was a joint effort between the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Enfield Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jocelyn Courtney Kaoutzanis prosecuted the case, securing the conviction and subsequent sentence.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the lethal consequences of the fentanyl crisis. While prison time won’t bring the victim back, it sends a message – albeit a belated one – that those who profit from dealing deadly drugs will face federal prosecution and time behind bars.
