Mitchell Lee Hensley, a 52-year-old Harrodsburg, Kentucky man, was involved in a large-scale fentanyl trafficking operation, possessing over 100 grams of the deadly opioid. On May 24, 2025, law enforcement raided his residence, finding not only the fentanyl but also methamphetamine, digital scales, and a loaded revolver. Hensley, a convicted felon, admitted to planning to distribute the drugs and using the firearms to further his crimes. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison for his role in the operation.
The investigation, conducted by the ATF and Harrodsburg Police Department, uncovered a sophisticated drug trafficking scheme. Hensley’s residence was searched, and law enforcement found 108.742 grams of fentanyl and 53.809 grams of methamphetamine hidden between his mattress and headboard. Four additional firearms were found stored under his bed, highlighting the dangerous nature of his crimes.
Hensley’s sentence is a significant victory for law enforcement and the community. His conviction and sentencing demonstrate the commitment of authorities to combating the opioid epidemic and reducing violent crime.
