A brazen fentanyl kingpin was taken down in Manchester, NH, after law enforcement cracked his operation, seizing over 1,600 grams of the deadly substance. Raynerson Marcos De La Paz Matos, a 31-year-old Dominican national, was sentenced to 5 years in federal prison for leading the trafficking ring that ammassed over $200,000 in profits.
De La Paz Matos and his crew sold fentanyl, cocaine, and crack cocaine to customers in Manchester, with law enforcement conducting controlled purchases on multiple occasions in 2024. The final bust came on September 11, 2024, when police raided De La Paz Matos’ two residences, netting a massive haul of illicit substances.
De La Paz Matos’ organization was a sophisticated operation, with ‘runners’ working under him to distribute the deadly substances. The fentanyl and cocaine trade continues to devastate communities across the country, with law enforcement vowing to bring those responsible to justice.
U.S. Attorney Erin Creegan hailed the sentence as a victory for New Hampshire communities, saying ‘my office will continue working with law enforcement to protect New Hampshire communities from those who earn money from addiction.’
