Fentanyl Kingpin Timothy Neal Pleads Guilty, Faces 20 Years
Tampa, FL – Timothy Neal, a 46-year-old man from Boston, Massachusetts, has pleaded guilty to distributing fentanyl, a move that could land him behind bars for up to 20 years.
According to court documents, Neal’s co-defendant, 41-year-old Haley Eaton, sold two bags of fentanyl to Neal on April 26, 2022. The next day, Neal purchased an additional three bags of fentanyl from Eaton, which he then consumed at his residence along with A.C.
Tragically, on April 28, 2022, at around 2:00 a.m., Neal awoke to find A.C. unresponsive. A.C.’s minor daughter called 911, and emergency responders arrived on scene to pronounce A.C. dead.
During a search of Neal and A.C.’s residence, law enforcement officers found an empty bag that had previously contained fentanyl. The bag was the same kind that Eaton had sold to Neal and was found on A.C.’s dresser in a plastic container. Neal confirmed it was the same bag he had purchased earlier from Eaton, which he had used with A.C.
A laboratory analysis confirmed that the bag contained fentanyl residue. Eaton, Neal’s co-defendant, previously pleaded guilty to distributing fentanyl and is set to be sentenced on June 25, 2024. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, with Assistant United States Attorney David W.A. Chee handling the prosecution.
Neal is set to face sentencing at a later date, but the maximum penalty for fentanyl distribution is 20 years in federal prison. The guilty plea marks a significant blow to the fentanyl distribution ring, and law enforcement officials are celebrating the successful takedown of the operation.
