A Bardstown, Kentucky couple, Neal Scott Stone, 50, and Keely Logsdon, 42, were involved in a large-scale fentanyl and cocaine trafficking operation that spanned from August 2022 to June 2023. The operation, which distributed over 400 grams of fentanyl and a quantity of cocaine, was run by Stone, an over-the-road truck driver, who obtained the substances from the southwest border of the United States and Mexico. Stone and Logsdon conspired with each other and others to distribute the substances in the Bardstown area. The motive behind the operation was financial gain, as Stone and Logsdon sought to profit from the sale of these illicit substances.
Stone’s role in the operation was significant, as he used his trucking business to transport the substances from the southwest border to Kentucky. He had previously been convicted of serious drug felonies, including possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of cocaine base and possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine. These convictions resulted in enhanced penalties for Stone.
On June 10, 2026, Stone and Logsdon were sentenced to federal prison for their roles in the trafficking operation. Stone received a 30-year sentence, followed by 10 years of supervised release, and was also ordered to pay a $40,000 fine. Additionally, he received an additional 3-year term for violating the terms of his supervised release, with 18 months to be served consecutively with the 30-year sentence. Logsdon was sentenced to 10 years in prison, followed by 6 years of supervised release.
The sentences were announced by U.S. Attorney Kyle G. Bumgarner of the Western District of Kentucky, Special Agent in Charge Olivia Olson of the FBI Louisville Field Office, and Special Agent in Charge Jim Scott of the DEA Louisville Field Division. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat the fentanyl and cocaine trafficking epidemic in Kentucky and across the United States.
