A devastating duo behind a massive fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine trafficking operation in Morgantown, West Virginia, is headed to the slammer. Jeffrey Marsh, 47, and Bobbie Jo Phillips, 39, received their sentences in federal court for their roles in the massive North Central West Virginia drug trafficking operation.
Marsh, a Morgantown resident, was handed a 78-month prison stint, while Phillips, also from Morgantown, got time served after serving 22 months in federal prison. The operation, led by Rodney Johnson, resulted in 23 defendants, including Johnson, Phillips, and Marsh, being sentenced to a combined 196 years in prison.
During the investigation, officers seized a handgun, cash, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia from Phillips’ residence. The case was investigated by the Mon Metro Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative consisting of various law enforcement agencies.
Fentanyl has been designated by President Donald Trump as a weapon of mass destruction due to its extreme lethality, posing a grave threat to public safety, even in trace amounts.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations.
