Hector Gonzalez, 42, of Ansonia, and Darel Edwards, 48, of New Haven, have been charged with manufacturing and distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine pills in Connecticut. The pair allegedly used tableting machines to produce counterfeit pills resembling pharmaceutical-grade Oxycodone and Adderall, which were then sold to customers in Connecticut and out of state through the US Mail. The investigation, which involved the DEA, ATF, and US Postal Inspection Service, revealed that Gonzalez and Edwards were part of a network of associates involved in the scheme.
On March 14, 2025, New Haven Police arrested Edwards after finding him in possession of over 200 grams of narcotics pills produced by Gonzalez. Despite being released on bond, Edwards continued to work with Gonzalez, and on May 8, 2025, investigators observed the two meeting to acquire additional pills. When Connecticut State Police attempted to stop Edwards’ vehicle, he fled at a high rate of speed before abandoning his vehicle in New Haven.
The investigation also revealed that in June 2025, Edwards and an associate sold narcotics pills and a short-barreled firearm. The indictment charges Gonzalez and Edwards with narcotics distribution and firearm possession offenses, which carry significant penalties if convicted.
The case highlights the ongoing struggle with fentanyl and methamphetamine distribution in Connecticut, and the efforts of law enforcement agencies to disrupt these networks and bring perpetrators to justice.
