Lloyd McKire-Bennett, Fentanyl Trafficking, Wisconsin 2022

⏱ 2 min read

A large-scale fentanyl trafficking operation that brought kilograms of fentanyl pills into Madison, Wisconsin, has been dismantled. The operation, led by Lloyd McKire-Bennett, was responsible for distributing thousands of fentanyl pills in the area. The investigation, which began in January 2022, revealed that the organization was mailing fentanyl pills from Arizona to addresses in Madison. The operation was finally brought down after a year-long investigation involving multiple controlled purchases, seizures of drug-laden mail packages, and arrests.

Law enforcement agents seized almost 5 kilograms of fentanyl pills, 10 firearms, and over $97,000 in U.S. currency during the investigation. The operation involved 23 controlled purchases of fentanyl pills and the seizure of three drug-laden mail packages, including one that contained 1.75 kilograms of fentanyl pills. The investigation was a coordinated effort between federal, state, and local law enforcement partners.

The 13 defendants, including McKire-Bennett, have been sentenced, marking a decisive blow against the multi-state criminal organization. U.S. Attorney Chadwick M. Elgersma praised the tireless efforts of the law enforcement agents involved in the investigation, saying that the success of the investigation is a direct result of a coordinated effort between federal, state, and local law enforcement partners.

The sentencing of the last defendant brings an end to the multi-year drug trafficking investigation in Dane County. The investigation and subsequent convictions demonstrate the commitment of law enforcement to protecting communities from the threat of fentanyl trafficking.
