Trevon McDaniel, a 19-year-old from Elk Grove, California, was arrested on July 1, 2026, for threatening to use fireworks to damage generators supplying federal buildings in Sacramento. The arrest came after an investigation into a plot to carry out attacks against federal property and officials, including an attack at a June 14, 2026, Ultimate Fighting Championship event. McDaniel, who went by the alias ‘The_wild_wolfspider’, communicated with one of the principal conspirators in the UFC plot, Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez, and posted a video on TikTok discussing his plans.
According to court documents, McDaniel’s TikTok messages and videos caught the attention of law enforcement, who seized a costume, cellphone, and batons from his residence. The FBI, with assistance from the Sacramento Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations, conducted the investigation. McDaniel made his initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremy D. Peterson and was ordered detained.
If convicted, McDaniel faces a maximum statutory sentence of 10 years in prison. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Elliot Wong and Kimberly Sokolich. The investigation and arrest highlight the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to prevent and respond to threats against federal property and officials.
