Randal Vance, a father from Fallbrook, California, has admitted to dosing his 9- and 11-year-old sons with hallucinogenic psilocybin mushrooms, using them to help cultivate and distribute the drugs in Fallbrook and Bonsall. The abuse began around October 2023 and continued until law enforcement executed search warrants on October 4, 2024. Vance pleaded guilty to multiple federal charges, including conspiracy to use minors to produce and distribute controlled substances.
Vance, the ringleader of the conspiracy, maintained websites and social media accounts to market and sell psilocybin mushrooms, chocolates, and capsules. He even provided his 12-year-old son with psilocybin capsules to sell to friends. Vance’s wife, Rebecca Vance, and friend Keir Ceballos-Rivera have also pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing.
The investigation and subsequent guilty pleas are a result of cooperation between law enforcement agencies, highlighting the seriousness of the crimes committed by Vance and his co-conspirators. The use of minors in the production and distribution of controlled substances is a grave offense, and the consequences of such actions can be devastating for the children involved.
Vance’s guilty plea marks a significant step towards justice for the victims, but the case serves as a reminder of the dangers of drug trafficking and the importance of protecting vulnerable populations, particularly children.
