Los Banos, CA – In a chilling turn of events, former Los Banos Junior High teacher Christian Banuelos, 30, has been hit with federal charges for sexual exploitation of a minor and the receipt and distribution of child pornography. According to court documents, Banuelos is accused of using a minor to create sexually explicit visual depictions between July 8, 2022, and November 15, 2023.
The allegations against Banuelos further reveal that he received and distributed child pornography from December 9, 2019, through August 22, 2024. The investigation into the former educator’s alleged activities was a collaborative effort by Homeland Security Investigations, the Central California Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and the Los Banos Police Department.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brittany M. Gunter is tasked with prosecuting this disturbing case. If convicted, Banuelos could face up to 30 years in prison for the sexual exploitation charge and another 20 years for the child pornography count, along with a fine of up to $250,000 for each offense.
Banuelos will also have to serve at least 15 years for the sexual exploitation charge and five years for the receipt and distribution of child pornography. However, any sentence would be determined by the court, considering all applicable factors and Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

The charges against Banuelos are only allegations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
