Frank Stork, Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Indiana 2021
Frank Stork, a 45-year-old South Bend resident, was sentenced to 84 months in prison on a charge of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, announced United States Attorney Clifford D. Johnson.
Stork was stopped by law enforcement on January 3, 2021, after they observed him committing multiple traffic violations while driving a vehicle. When officers attempted to apprehend him, Stork physically resisted.
A loaded .45 caliber firearm, which had been reported stolen in 2019, was recovered from the vehicle during the stop. Stork’s prior felony convictions revealed that he had six prior convictions, any one of which prohibited him from possessing the firearm.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Indiana High Intensity Drug Trafficking Task Force, with assistance from the Hobart Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Caitlin M. Padula prosecuted the case.
Stork’s sentence includes 84 months in prison, followed by 2 years of supervised release. This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in local communities.
Project Safe Neighborhoods is a collaborative effort between law enforcement and community organizations to make neighborhoods safer for everyone. The program focuses on fostering trust and legitimacy, supporting community-based initiatives, and setting strategic enforcement priorities.
Stork’s case serves as a reminder of the consequences of violating federal firearms laws. His sentence demonstrates the commitment of law enforcement to hold individuals accountable for their actions and to keep communities safe.
