Frank Stork, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Indiana 2021

In a disturbing case of gun violence, Frank Stork, a 45-year-old South Bend man, was sentenced to 84 months in prison for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

A loaded .45 caliber firearm, which had been reported stolen in 2019, was recovered from Stork’s vehicle during a traffic stop on January 3, 2021. The vehicle was stopped due to multiple traffic violations, and Stork physically resisted the officers.

According to documents, Stork’s criminal history revealed six prior felony convictions, any one of which prohibited him from possessing the firearm. This egregious crime highlights the dangers of gun violence in our communities and the importance of enforcing laws to prevent such incidents.

Stork’s sentencing is a result of the diligent efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Indiana High Intensity Drug Trafficking Task Force, with assistance from the Hobart Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Caitlin M. Padula prosecuted the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence by bringing together law enforcement and community leaders to foster trust and legitimacy in our communities.

Stork’s sentence serves as a warning to those who would recklessly disregard the law and put innocent lives at risk. The people of South Bend and Indiana demand justice, and this sentence sends a clear message that gun violence will not be tolerated.

As we continue to work towards a safer community, it is essential that we hold individuals accountable for their actions and take proactive steps to prevent gun violence. The sentence handed down to Frank Stork is a crucial step towards achieving this goal.
