Lincoln Man Lands 22.5 Years for Fentanyl Overdose
In a devastating display of the dangers of fentanyl-laced substances, Franklin Rorebeck, a 39-year-old Lincoln resident, was sentenced to 270 months in prison for distributing cocaine and fentanyl resulting in serious bodily injury.
This egregious act of crime occurred in late July of 2021 when Rorebeck sold cocaine which turned out to be laced with fentanyl to one of his customers in Lincoln. The customer then sold the cocaine laced with fentanyl to a third person, who provided the drug to a victim who suffered an overdose on July 25, 2021.
First responders performed CPR on the victim and administered Narcan, ultimately hospitalizing them. A subsequent search of the victim’s Lincoln residence revealed a small white rock on a table next to the bed, which tested positive for the presence of fentanyl.
A physician specializing in emergency room medicine and toxicology found that the victim would have been at substantial risk of dying from the use of cocaine laced with fentanyl if they had not received the Narcan.
Rorebeck will serve five years on supervised release after completing his prison sentence. There is no parole in the federal system.
This case was investigated by the Lincoln/Lancaster County Narcotics Taskforce.
Rorebeck’s actions have left a lasting impact on the community, highlighting the dangers of fentanyl-laced substances and the devastating consequences of addiction. The 22.5-year prison sentence serves as a stark reminder of the severity of such crimes.
In accordance with federal guidelines, Rorebeck will begin serving his sentence immediately. The community can rest assured that justice has been served in this instance.
