Anthony Fritzinger, Production of Child Sexual Abuse Material, North Carolina 2024

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Anthony Fritzinger, 25, of Middletown, New Jersey, will spend the next four decades behind bars after being convicted and sentenced to 40 years in prison for a sickening campaign of online exploitation. The former Marine was found guilty on five counts of production of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), four counts of online exploitation of a minor, one count of possession of CSAM, and two counts of extortion following a trial that concluded September 12, 2024. This isn’t just a crime; it’s a calculated, years-long assault on vulnerable children.

The case originated with a brazen attempt to extort an 18-year-old woman over compromising photos taken during her youth. When her family went to local police, the investigation quickly spiraled into a far more disturbing reality. Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) agents uncovered a pattern of Fritzinger serially stalking, manipulating, and extorting minors across multiple states, all to satisfy his depraved desires. Acting U.S. Attorney Daniel P. Bubar minced no words: “This defendant preyed on vulnerable children, manipulating and threatening them to produce explicit content for his own gratification.”

Fritzinger’s hunting grounds were teen “dating” apps like Yubo, Spotafriend, and mylol.com. He didn’t just connect with victims; he crafted elaborate online personas, sometimes posing as a teenage girl to gain trust. He then established relationships on platforms like Snapchat and Instagram, slowly grooming children into sending sexually explicit material. The details are chilling: Fritzinger actively taught his victims to embrace a dominant/submissive dynamic, exerting total control and demanding increasingly sadistic acts. He weaponized their vulnerabilities, even falsely claiming to be dying to elicit sympathy and continued compliance.

The evidence recovered by NCIS was staggering. Agents seized Fritzinger’s cell phone, laptop, and social media accounts, uncovering hundreds of screenshots of young girls’ profiles and thousands of explicit chats. The digital trail revealed an obsessive effort to entice minors into producing child pornography. Hundreds of images and videos of victims, some as young as toddlers, were recovered, alongside a vast collection of online child pornography. Through meticulous work, investigators identified roughly two dozen victims, many of whom bravely testified against Fritzinger in court.

“This case represents the very worst kind of online exploitation,” stated NCIS Special Agent in Charge Kelly Parrish. “It is only through the extraordinary courage of the victims and the relentless work of our Special Agents that justice was served.” Parrish emphasized the ongoing commitment of NCIS to uncovering these hidden threats and safeguarding children. The sentence handed down by Chief U.S. District Judge Richard E. Myers II sends a clear message: such predatory behavior will not be tolerated.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jake D. Pugh and Erin Blondel secured the conviction and sentencing. Court documents related to the case – Case No. 4:20-CR-00081 – are available on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina website and through PACER. This case serves as a stark reminder of the dark underbelly of online interaction and the urgent need for vigilance in protecting our most vulnerable citizens.
