Earl Isaac III, Fentanyl & Machine Gun, District of Columbia 2024

Washington – In a move aimed at cracking down on Southeast D.C. crew activity, a 21-year-old member of the group has been sentenced to 90 months in prison for distributing fentanyl and possessing a machine gun. Earl Isaac III, also known as “Frontline,” pleaded guilty on January 9, 2024, to four counts: unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon; unlawful possession with intent to distribute marijuana; unlawful possession with intent to distribute fentanyl; and using, carrying, and possessing a firearm during a drug trafficking offense.

U.S. District Court Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly handed down the sentence, along with five years of supervised release. This comes after a search warrant was executed on a residence on Stanton Road SE on June 1, 2023, where police found a .40 caliber Glock firearm, outfitted with a machine gun conversion device, and loaded with 21 rounds of ammunition. Additional evidence included over 100 small, round, blue pills inscribed with “M30” containing fentanyl, 2.68 kilos of marijuana, and $2,020 in cash.

Isaac’s social media account was found to showcase his marijuana sales, as well as posing with money earned from the illicit activity. This isn’t the first time Isaac has been convicted of a crime – in 2022, he was sentenced to a 14-month suspended prison term under the Youth Rehabilitation Act with a one-year probationary term in D.C. Superior Court, which was later revoked.

The investigation was led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) with assistance from the Drug Enforcement Administration. The case is being handled by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy J. Coley and Assistant U.S. Attorney Ryan Sellinger, with valuable assistance provided by former Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Jordan Leiter and Assistant U.S. Attorney Sitara Witanachchi.

The harsh sentence is a significant blow to the Southeast D.C. crew’s operations. Isaac’s involvement in distributing fentanyl and possessing a machine gun poses a substantial threat to public safety, and his 90-month prison sentence serves as a warning to others involved in similar activity.

With the ATF and DEA working tirelessly to dismantle these crews, it’s clear that the stakes are higher than ever for those involved in the illicit trade of fentanyl and firearms. As the Grimy Times continues to expose the hard-hitting details of crime stories like this, it’s evident that law enforcement is cracking down on the most egregious offenders.
