TULSA, Okla.
– Arvest Bank was a victim of a brazen $50,000 heist last August, and now the suspect is behind bars. Jeffrey Patterson Grass, 40, of Locust Grove, has been charged with Bank Theft and Possession of and Uttering a Forged Security in a federal indictment.
The indictment alleges that Grass stole approximately $50,000 from Arvest Bank in August 2015. He is also charged with two counts of possession of and uttering forged checks at People’s Bank. If convicted, the statutory maximum penalty is 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Grass is not the only one facing federal charges in Oklahoma. A federal grand jury has indicted several individuals on various charges, including Reentry of Removed Alien, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Theft of Mail, and more.
Jose Samuel Garcia-Discua, 40, is charged with Reentry of Removed Alien. Garcia-Discua, who was deported in May 2011 from Houston, Texas, is accused of returning to the United States unlawfully. If convicted, the statutory maximum penalty is 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Isidro Herrera-Elvira, 49, is also charged with Reentry of Removed Alien. Herrera-Elvira was deported in February 1989 from San Ysidro, California, and is accused of returning to the United States unlawfully. If convicted, the statutory maximum penalty is 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Other individuals facing federal charges include Henry Bruce Horn, 37, who is charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm; Terry Allen Kapple, 59, who is charged with Theft of Mail; Joel Adam Thomas, 33, who is charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm; and Dustin Ernest Thompson, 35, who is charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition.
The investigations were conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bixby Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the U.S. Postal Service, Office of Inspector General.
