Michail Chkhikvishvili, Hate Crimes, New York 2026

⏱ 2 min read

A twisted plot to slaughter innocents in the heart of Brooklyn. Michail Chkhikvishvili, a Georgian national, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for soliciting hate crimes and planning a mass casualty attack in New York City. Chkhikvishvili, known as ‘Commander Butcher,’ was leader of the racist extremist group, Maniac Murder Cult.

The group’s ideology was rooted in hatred for minority communities, including the Jewish community. Chkhikvishvili recruited others to commit violent acts, including planning a mass casualty attack in New York City.

Thanks to the tireless work of law enforcement agencies, including the FBI’s New York Joint Terrorism Task Force, the attack never came to fruition. Chkhikvishvili was extradited from Moldova in May 2025 and pleaded guilty in November.

US Attorney Joseph Nocella vowed that hate-mongers like Chkhikvishvili will face justice. ‘Today’s sentence sends a strong message to hateful extremists: we will find you and prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law.’
