A US border patrol busted a New Jersey man smuggling child porn on his phone and tablet into the country from Canada. Daniel Lanfrit, 50, was stopped at the border in May 2026.
Border agents searched his devices and found nearly 400 images of child pornography. Lanfrit, who had traveled from Canada to the US port of entry, was charged with possession of child pornography.
Lanfrit pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 5 years in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release. First Assistant US Attorney John A. Sarcone III praised the work of Customs and Border Protection and Homeland Security Investigations in bringing the case to justice.
The investigation highlights the dark reality of child pornography’s widespread presence and the role of law enforcement in disrupting its distribution.
