TYLER, Texas – The grimy streets of Jacksonville were jolted as Omar Galvan-Rodriguez found himself in hot water this week. The Mexican national, who has been illegally living in the city, was charged with unlawfully returning to the United States. Eastern District of Texas Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs broke the news, revealing that Galvan-Rodriguez, 41, had been indicted by a federal grand jury for illegal reentry by a previously deported alien.
The grim allegations against Galvan-Rodriguez state that on May 9, 2025, he was found lurking in the Eastern District of Texas. His presence there directly contradicts his previous deportation status. This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide effort to combat illegal immigration and protect communities from violent crime.
Operation Take Back America, a joint initiative between the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN), aims to eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations. If convicted, Galvan-Rodriguez could face up to 10 years in federal prison and be deported once again.
Homeland Security Investigations is leading the investigation into this sordid affair, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Jim Noble will handle the prosecution.
