ST. PAUL, Minn. – A federal jury delivered a guilty verdict against Gene Paul Schave, 50, a Minneapolis man convicted of possessing images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of minors.
According to the evidence presented at trial, Schave, a registered sex offender, was found to be in possession of an Asus tablet that contained more than 3,000 images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of minors on October 3, 2019.
This conviction stems from a previous conviction in 2010 in Minnesota state court for possessing child pornography. At that time, Schave was sentenced to supervised release, which he was still serving when he committed the current offense.
The investigation into Schave’s activities was a collaborative effort between the FBI, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and the Minneapolis Police Department.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Miranda E Dugi and Emily A. Polachek led the prosecution in this case, which resulted in Schave’s guilty verdict.
Gene Paul Schave is a registered sex offender with a history of possessing child pornography. His conviction on one count of possession of child pornography carries significant consequences.
This case serves as a reminder that authorities are committed to holding those who engage in such heinous crimes accountable for their actions.
