Child Pornography Kingpin Sentenced to 121 Months in Prison
A severe case of child pornography has come to a close in Missouri, with George Patterson, a 121-month prison sentence handed down for possession of child pornography. The defendant, a resident of Bland, Missouri, was found guilty of one felony count of possession of child pornography in November.
The investigation, led by the Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children (MOICAC) Task Force and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, began in December 2015, when a tip was received that an email address belonging to Patterson had uploaded suspected child pornography images to a Google Plus photos account. On April 27, 2016, a federal search warrant was executed in Bland, and on-scene forensics of Patterson’s cell phone revealed approximately 3,000 images of child pornography and child erotica.
The severity of the crime is a stark reminder of the dangers of child exploitation and the importance of vigilant law enforcement. Assistant United States Attorney Rob Livergood handled the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
