Jeremy Fluellen, Cocaine and Methamphetamine Distribution, Georgia

NEWMAN, Ga. – A federal jury convicted Jeremy Fluellen, Chelsey Mayweather, Tramaine Tucker, and Christopher Williams on fifteen counts of cocaine and methamphetamine distribution, and seven counts of extortion under color of official right.

The trial, which lasted a week, exposed the extensive corruption within Georgia Department of Corrections (GA DOC) institutions. U.S. Attorney John Horn described the situation as “troubling” and highlighted the betrayal of trust by officers who sold their badges for personal gain.

David J. LeValley, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Atlanta Field Office, emphasized the message that comes with selling a badge: there is a cost. The FBI continues to prioritize public corruption as its number one criminal program.

GDC Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier expressed satisfaction with justice served and reiterated the agency’s commitment to removing corrupt staff from their facilities. The GA DOC oversees operations at over 50,000 inmates across more than 50 state prisons.

According to U.S. Attorney Horn, the investigation uncovered that correctional officers were smuggling contraband into state prisons, including controlled substances and cell phones used by inmates for fraudulent activities. Over 45 officers were involved in protecting drug deals in exchange for cash bribes.

The guilty verdicts handed down against Fluellen, Mayweather, Tucker, and Williams underscore the severity of their crimes. They face significant penalties for their roles in undermining the integrity of the GA DOC and compromising public safety.
