Justin Antre Grantsteadman, Felon Gun Possession, Florida 2023

GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: Justin Antre Grantsteadman, 36, of Tallahassee, has been hit with federal charges for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The grim accusations surface as the Department of Justice (DOJ) brings its full weight to bear in Operation Take Back America.

The DOJ’s United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida, John P. Heekin, confirmed the charges against Grantsteadman. Facing the federal bench for his arraignment was United States Magistrate Judge Martin A. Fitzpatrick at Tallahassee’s U.S. Courthouse.

Grantsteadman, if found guilty, could be looking at up to 15 years in the clink. The investigation into this fiery case has been a collaborative effort between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the United States Marshall Service, and the Tallahassee Police Department.

Assistant United States Attorney James A. McCain is leading the prosecution against Grantsteadman. As a stern reminder that an indictment is not proof of guilt, all defendants are entitled to a fair trial where the government must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a DOJ initiative aimed at tackling illegal immigration, dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protecting communities from violent crime. It brings together resources from OCDETFs and Project Safe Neighborhood programs.
