A Guatemalan national is facing federal charges for possessing a 9mm firearm after allegedly entering the United States illegally.
Edilberto Gonzalez-Barrera, 40, was indicted by a federal grand jury on April 14, 2026, for two counts: illegal possession of a firearm by an illegal alien and illegal entry into the United States.
The indictment alleges Gonzalez-Barrera entered the country without proper admission and possessed a Sig-Sauer P365X, 9mm firearm.
According to the charges, Gonzalez-Barrera could face up to 15 years in federal prison without parole for the firearm charge and up to 6 months for the immigration charge.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative to combat illegal immigration and violent crime.
