CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Baltazer Victorino-Tulul-Ajqui, a 30-year-old Guatemalan national, has entered a guilty plea to the serious felony charge of Reentry of a Removed Alien. The announcement came from United States Attorney Mike Stuart, who scheduled Tulul-Ajqui’s sentencing for September 11, 2019.
Stuart emphasized, ‘Two prior removals have been documented, and we will continue to deport line skippers only after they enter the country legally.’
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents acting on a tip arrested Tulul-Ajqui in Charleston, Kanawha County, West Virginia, on May 1, 2019. The agents had discovered his illegal presence upon confirming he was working in the United States without legal status.
ICE fingerprinting revealed Tulul-Ajqui’s two earlier removals from the U.S., occurring in 2010 and 2015. Both times, immigration judges determined that Tulul-Ajqui was in the country illegally and deported him to Guatemala. He had never obtained permission or sought legal status or citizenship within the United States.
United States District Judge Irene C. Berger presided over the arraignment, with Assistant United States Attorney Erik S. Goes handling the prosecution.
