ELKINS, WEST VIRGINIA – In a stunning revelation from the Mountain State, Brian Scott Mayle, 37, of Coalton, West Virginia, has entered a guilty plea for his dangerous handling of illegal explosives. The charge: possession of C4 explosive material, a substance with the power to unleash destruction.
According to Acting United States Attorney Betsy Steinfeld Jividen, Mayle, who is neither a licensee nor permittee, committed this heinous act in July 2016, receiving and transporting the illicit material within Randolph County. The court’s verdict? One count of “Receipt and Transfer of Explosive Material without a License,” a charge that carries severe penalties.
Mayle now faces up to ten years behind bars and a staggering fine of $250,000. The severity of his sentence will be determined by the offenses’ seriousness and any prior criminal history he might have, according to Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen D. Warner was instrumental in representing the government in this case. Meanwhile, the Mountain Region Drug and Violent Crime Task Force took the lead in investigating the matter, leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice.
The proceedings were presided over by U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi, ensuring that Mayle received a fair trial.
