Aujawan T. Hymon, Antonio Owens, and Ishaq Williams, all from Savannah, have been sentenced to federal prison for illegal firearms possession. The crimes occurred in Savannah, with Hymon’s case stemming from a July 2025 shooting at the Oglethorpe Mall, where three people were wounded. Owens and Williams were caught with firearms during traffic stops in June 2025 and March 2024, respectively.
Hymon, 21, pleaded guilty to Illegal Possession of a Machine Gun and was sentenced to 41 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, and fined $1,200. Owens, 30, and Williams, 44, pleaded guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, receiving sentences of 39 months and 24 months, respectively, with three years of supervised release.
The cases were investigated by the Savannah Police Department, with assistance from federal authorities. U.S. Attorney Margaret E. “Meg” Heap praised the work of law enforcement, stating that removing guns from felons and keeping illegal machine guns off the streets is crucial to community safety.
The sentences were handed down by U.S. District Court Chief Judge R. Stan Baker. With no parole in the federal system, the defendants will serve their full sentences. The convictions and sentences aim to reduce gun crime in Savannah and surrounding areas.
