Three men in West Virginia’s Northern District have been sentenced to decades in prison for firearms violations. Zachary Mongold, 37, of Moorefield, was stopped by the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office during an investigation into a violent crime, and a search of his vehicle turned up a firearm with ammunition. Mongold, a prior domestic battery convict, is prohibited from possessing firearms. His brother, Jeremy, is awaiting sentencing for purchasing the gun for Zachary.
Jason Gordon, 39, of Baker, was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison after officers responded to a domestic violence call at his residence and found firearms in the attic. Gordon has prior felony and domestic violence convictions, making him ineligible to possess firearms.
Montez Taryle Lincoln, 41, of Martinsburg, was sentenced to 72 months in prison after a search warrant turned up two pistols and crack cocaine in his bedroom during an investigation into a marijuana grow operation. Lincoln, also known as ‘Fatz,’ has prior felony drug convictions, prohibiting him from possessing firearms.
The cases were prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Eleanor Hurney, Andrew Cogar, and Stephen Warner, with investigative support from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the West Virginia State Police, and the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office.
