Bryan Klein, a 56-year-old man from Destin, Florida, has been indicted for making a false statement to a federally licensed firearms dealer. The indictment, announced by United States Attorney John P. Heekin, alleges that Klein lied to the dealer, although the specifics of the lie have not been disclosed. The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating violent crime and transnational criminal organizations.
Klein appeared in federal court in Pensacola, Florida, for his arraignment before United States Magistrate Judge Michael J. Frank. His jury trial is scheduled to begin on June 22, 2026, before United States District Court Judge M. Casey Rodgers. If convicted, Klein faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), with Assistant United States Attorney Alicia H. Forbes prosecuting the case. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida is handling the prosecution, which is one of many cases being pursued as part of Operation Take Back America.
The outcome of the case will depend on the evidence presented at trial, with the government bearing the burden of proving Klein’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. As with all defendants, Klein is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
