Gold Bullion Scam Suspect Charged in New York

Harmish Patel, 26, of Streamwood, Illinois, has been indicted in connection with a gold bullion scam that targeted an elderly couple in Rensselaer County, New York.

According to court documents, Patel conspired with others to transport gold bullion across state lines that had been obtained by fraud. He allegedly transported gold bullion from New York to New Jersey on multiple occasions.

The indictment alleges that Patel picked up gold bullion from the elderly couple in Brunswick, New York, after they had been defrauded in a scam. The charges against Patel carry a maximum term of 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and a term of supervised release of up to 3 years.
