Derek A. Fulfer, a 31-year-old Casper man, made a string of antisemitic threats against the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) offices in Colorado and Texas on March 5, 2025. The threats, which included explicit violence against people of Jewish faith, were made in four rapid-fire phone calls. When no one picked up, Fulfer left voicemails packed with hate speech.
Fulfer’s actions quickly caught the attention of federal law enforcement, and the FBI launched an investigation, tracing the calls back to him. When questioned by agents, Fulfer admitted making the calls but claimed his threats were protected speech. However, a federal criminal complaint was filed on August 19, 2025, charging him under 18 U.S.C. § 875(c) — transmitting threats in interstate commerce.
Fulfer later waived indictment and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Scott W. Skavdahl on January 8, 2026. On April 3, Judge Skavdahl sentenced Fulfer to 12 months and one day in federal prison, followed by two years of supervised release. Fulfer was ordered to self-surrender to the Bureau of Prisons by June 1, 2026.
U.S. Attorney Darin Smith was clear in his condemnation of Fulfer’s actions, stating that Jewish Americans have every right to live, worship, and serve their communities free from threats of violence. Smith warned those who would threaten the Jewish community or any community of faith that they would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of federal law.
