A previously deported sex offender has been sentenced to 3 years in federal prison for re-entering the United States.
Heraldo Agustin Hueskin-De Leon, a 47-year-old Guatemalan national, was arrested on May 16, 2024, after being encountered by United States Border Patrol agents near Eagle Pass, Texas.
According to court documents, Hueskin-De Leon was previously removed from the United States on September 19, 2018.
Additionally, Hueskin-De Leon had previously been sentenced in 2011 to 20 years imprisonment for second degree rape.
Defendant Hueskin-De Leon was charged with illegal re-entry of a previously deported alien, a federal crime punishable by up to 2 years in prison.
U.S. Attorney Jaime Esparza of the Western District of Texas made the announcement.
The United States Border Patrol investigated the case.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Tyler Fleming and Matt Kass prosecuted the case.
