Heroin Pusher Gets 36 Months

A Hampshire County woman has been sentenced to 36 months incarceration for heroin distribution, a federal court has ruled.

Bonnie Bishop, 31, of Bloomery, West Virginia, pleaded guilty to one count of ‘Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance’ in May 2017, admitting to conspiring with others to distribute heroin in Hampshire County in July 2015.

Bishop’s sentence was handed down by Chief U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh, who presided over the case.

The investigation into Bishop’s activities was conducted by the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative. Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Z. Krasinski prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.

Bishop’s guilty plea marked the culmination of a lengthy probe into the heroin trade in Hampshire County. The task force has been working tirelessly to disrupt and dismantle heroin trafficking networks in the region.

The 36-month sentence is a significant blow to Bishop and her associates, who had hoped to avoid punishment for their crimes. Instead, Bishop will be incarcerated for the next three years, a period that will undoubtedly have a profound impact on her life and those of her loved ones.

The sentencing of Bonnie Bishop serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of heroin addiction and the importance of continued efforts to combat the heroin trade in our communities.

The Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crime Task Force will continue to work tirelessly to identify and bring to justice those who would seek to profit from the heroin trade.
