Steven Woodward, Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin, West Virginia 2014

CHARLES TOWN, WV – A Charles Town man has been sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for heroin trafficking.

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – Steven Woodward, 34, of Charles Town, West Virginia, was sentenced today to 30 months in prison for heroin trafficking, United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced.

Woodward was discovered in possession of heroin in May 2014 during an investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. He pled guilty in December 2014 to one count of “Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin.”

Woodward’s sentence stems from a guilty plea to one count of ‘Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin’ and comes after an investigation led by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

The investigation was conducted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and Assistant United States Attorney Paul Camilletti prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.

The case was presided over by Chief U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh. The sentence was handed down after a thorough investigation and guilty plea by the defendant.

Woodward’s prison sentence is a result of his guilty plea and the investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Woodward is expected to begin serving his sentence immediately. The U.S. Attorney’s Office will continue to work towards holding individuals accountable for their crimes.
