James Johnson, Home Invasion, California 2020

⏱ 3 min read

A brutal home invasion robbery in Philadelphia left two business owners and their daughter battered and bruised. Ali Chandler, 30, and co-defendant Abdullah Hartage, waited outside their victims’ business on November 13, 2021, before storming in, armed with handguns. One victim was struck in the head, and all three were forced to the ground.

Chandler and Hartage had cased the victims’ home, identifying their residence after following the employee home from work. The robbers made off with the daughter’s backpack, containing her credit/debit cards and ID.

Chandler and Hartage were charged in October 2022, and in October 2024, they pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery and two counts of committing or threatening physical violence in furtherance of a plan to interfere with interstate commerce.

Co-defendant Hartage was sentenced to 18 years in prison in January.
