⏱ 2 min read

Philadelphia gunrunner Arthur Thompson, 40, was busted for the second time in less than two weeks for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. On October 18, 2023, investigators with the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General’s Gun Violence Task Force spotted Thompson and his girlfriend in a car on North Percy Street. A few hours later, they followed the vehicle until it pulled over, and Thompson was arrested on an active warrant.

GVTF investigators then searched the vehicle and found a loaded 9mm handgun. Thompson had a prior conviction that made him ineligible to own a firearm or ammo. This is his second federal conviction in gun cases in less than two weeks. He faces up to 15 years in prison for each conviction, with sentencing set for July 8.

Thompson was first convicted of possessing a firearm and ammunition as a felon on March 31. In this case, Thompson was driving a car when he was pulled over by Highway Patrol officers. He was later identified as the defendant and arrested. The investigation was a joint effort between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General’s Gun Violence Task Force.
