SCRANTON – The grim halls of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania echoed with the news that Nelson Geovany Pineda-Chacon, a 30-year-old native of Honduras, is facing federal charges for illegal firearm possession. Pineda-Chacon, currently residing in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, was indicted by a federal grand jury for knowingly harboring a 9mm Beretta handgun and 9mm Luger ammunition.
The indictment levies the charge that on or about May 7, 2024, Pineda-Chacon, an alien unlawfully present in the United States, violated federal firearms laws. This case has been brought to light by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), showcasing their relentless pursuit of justice.
Acting United States Attorney John Gurganus confirmed that Assistant United States Attorney Tatum Wilson is at the helm of this prosecution.
