A Honduran national has been charged with illegal re-entry into the United States.
Alex Obdulio Cruz-Matute, 45, was charged in a one-count Indictment for illegal re-entry of a removed alien in violation of Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a).
According to the Indictment, Cruz-Matute reentered the United States after he was previously deported on October 11, 2007.
U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite announced the charges, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Spiro G. Latsis is in charge of the prosecution.
“An Indictment is merely a charge, and the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt,” U.S. Attorney Polite reiterated.
U.S. Attorney Polite also praised the work of the United States Department of Homeland Security in investigating this matter.
