Yoni Omar Alvarado-Gomes, a 35-year-old citizen of Honduras, also known as Jhonny Ramos Campos, was sentenced to 92 days in federal prison for illegal reentry into the United States after being deported twice. The sentence came following his guilty plea on May 28, 2025, to one count of entering the country without permission from the U.S. government.
Alvarado-Gomes had previously been removed from the United States in 2009 and again in 2013. He was caught by immigration officials at Tama County Jail on April 26, 2025, after being arrested on state charges of driving without a license and speeding.
The sentencing took place in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where Chief Judge C.J. Williams of the United States District Court imposed the prison term. After serving his time, Alvarado-Gomes will be required to serve a one-year term of supervised release. The federal system does not offer parole for this offense.
Alvarado-Gomes is currently in the custody of the U.S. Marshals until immigration officials can take him into their possession. His case is an element of Operation Take Back America, a Department of Justice initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations.

Vander Stoep handled the prosecution, while the Enforcement and Removal Operations of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted the investigation.
