Mariano Andujar Perez, a 43-year-old Dominican national, was sentenced to 2 years and 1 day in prison for aggravated identity theft, passport fraud, and other crimes in Boston, MA. Perez, who was unlawfully residing in Hyde Park, MA, pleaded guilty in March 2026 to misusing a Social Security number, making false statements in a passport application, and unlawfully reentering the US after deportation. Perez first entered the US in 2013 and began using the identity of a US citizen from Puerto Rico to obtain a Massachusetts driver’s license.
After being convicted of drug offenses in state court, Perez was removed to the Dominican Republic in 2017. However, he illegally reentered the US and resumed using the victim’s identity in 2022 to obtain a Real ID and apply for a US passport. Perez’s actions were discovered, and he was indicted by a federal grand jury in December 2024.
Perez’s sentence, handed down by US District Court Judge William G. Young, includes 3 years of supervised release. He is subject to deportation upon completion of his sentence. The case was prosecuted by Assistant US Attorneys John J. Reynolds III and Allegra K. Flamm of the Major Crimes Unit, with assistance from the US Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service.
