Jacksonville, FL – A Man Pleads Guilty to Aggravated Identity Theft

A Duval County man has pleaded guilty to aggravated identity theft, a federal crime that carries a mandatory minimum sentence of two years in prison. Jefferage Capice White, 55, of Jacksonville, entered the plea as part of a broader investigation into the manufacturing of counterfeit identification documents and identity theft.

According to court documents, in December 2015, White posed as a Navy Federal Credit Union account holder, presenting a counterfeit Florida driver’s license containing the personal identification information of J.F. He requested a cash withdrawal from J.F.’s account, but the credit union employees became suspicious and notified the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

When approached by a JSO officer, White fled and was eventually apprehended after a physical struggle. This incident is just one of several cases related to the investigation.

A related case involves Carlis Edward Williams, 53, of Jacksonville, who pleaded guilty to aggravated identity theft on December 1, 2016. Williams faces a mandatory minimum of two years in federal prison for the aggravated identity theft charge and is set to be sentenced on March 8, 2017.

The investigation into the manufacturing of counterfeit identification documents and identity theft is ongoing, with several individuals already facing charges. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and the United States Secret Service – Jacksonville Field Office are working together to bring those responsible to justice.

Assistant United States Attorney Kevin C. Frein is prosecuting the case. The guilty plea is a significant step forward in the investigation, and it sends a clear message that identity theft will not be tolerated in our community.
