GRIM NEWS: Independence Father and Son Plead Guilty to Meth Distribution
In a dramatic turn of events, Jesse L. Davis, Sr., 50, and his son, Jesse L. Davis, Jr., 27, from Independence, Missouri, have entered guilty pleas in federal court for their roles in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy that spanned over a year.
According to the United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, Tammy Dickinson, Jesse L. Davis, Jr. admitted to living at the home of a co-conspirator, where drug transactions took place. He served as a ‘strong hand’ providing protection in exchange for involvement. The younger Davis is individually responsible for distributing at least 1.5 kilograms of meth. His plea agreement dictates a $52,500 forfeiture.
Jesse L. Davis, Sr., on the other hand, admitted to purchasing and redistributing approximately 340 grams of meth. He too faces significant financial penalties with a $11,900 forfeiture.
The consequences are severe; Jesse L. Davis, Jr. is facing a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years without parole, while his father has been sentenced to 87 months without parole. Sentencing will be determined by the court based on advisory guidelines and other factors following presentence investigations.
This case has been prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Edwards with the Jackson County Drug Task Force and the Independence, Mo., Police Department leading the investigation.
